A work Christmas party across the simulator bays at Virtual Fairways, Darlington
Christmas Parties

The Christmas do nobody leaves early.

No long table, no set menu, no seating plan, and nobody stuck next to the one person they'd rather avoid. Teams are drawn on arrival, so the room mixes itself and the quiet ones aren't sat out.

The problem with the long table.

Most work Christmas parties in Darlington come down to the same evening: a set menu, a fixed seating plan, and three hours talking to whoever you happened to sit down next to. Half the room has a good night. The other half watches the clock.

Bays fix that on their own. People stand up, move about, take their turn and drift between groups, so the night mixes itself instead of needing someone to organise it. The quiet ones get to join in without having to hold a table's worth of conversation, and the competitive ones have somewhere to put it.

It also lands well with people who don't drink, which a lot of Christmas dos quietly fail at. There's something to actually do.

How a Christmas night runs.

Everything is priced per bay rather than per head, so the cost per person drops as the group grows. Four to six play per bay, and spectators are welcome on top.

Small team, 1–2 hours

One or two bays from £27 an hour per bay. Closest to the pin and longest drive take about a minute to explain and produce a winner fast. Ideal for a team of six to twelve who want a proper night without making a production of it.

Department night, 2–3 hours

Two or three bays, teams drawn on arrival and a nine-hole scramble on a course everyone recognises. Scores on every screen, drinks and snacks to the bay, and bragging rights that last until January.

Whole venue

All three bays and the bar to yourselves from £81 an hour. The whole place is yours, so there's no sharing the room with another party and no last orders at somebody else's pace.

The practical answers.

When should we book?

Early. December Fridays and Saturdays go first and they go months ahead, so if you have a date in mind it's worth pinning it down over the summer. Midweek in December is far easier to get and costs the same.

Does anyone need to play golf?

No, and it's better if they don't. Clubs, balls and tees are here, the simulator does the scoring, and the party games take a minute to learn. Complete beginners cause most of the upsets.

Food and drink?

Fully licensed bar — Prosecco, beer, wines, spirits, juice, soft drinks and fresh coffee — with bar snacks to the bay. Snacks rather than a sit-down meal, so plenty of groups eat elsewhere either side and come here for the actual night. Say so when you enquire and we'll talk you through the options.

What's the dress code?

There isn't one. Work clothes and trainers are absolutely fine, Christmas jumpers even more so. Nobody needs golf shoes.

How many can we bring?

Four to six play per bay with spectators on top, so the three bays comfortably handle eighteen — more if you're rotating people through with drinks. Tell us your headcount and we'll tell you honestly what fits.

Can we invoice it?

Yes. Send your numbers, a rough date and a budget and we'll come back with a quote you can put through the company. Gift vouchers work too if you'd rather hand the night over as a present. Gift vouchers →
